Tim Gibbons

Ski Bio 2001

Tim Gibbons has over 38 years of skiing experience. He grew up skiing on Mt. Hood andcompeted in alpine and cross-country ski events as a junior and raced cross-countryas a collegiate competitor in Oregon.

Tim has over 18 years of experience in the area of athlete development: 10 years as a cross-country ski coach and eight years as an applied sport scientist. He is currently working for the U. S. Olympic Committee as a consultant on special projects. He recently finished a report documenting the development of U. S. Olympians. For five years he worked as a sport physiologist for the USOC in the Sport Science and Technology Division in Colorado Springs, CO. During that time he spent three and half years as the Endurance Training Coordinator researching the programs and resources that are necessary to systematically produce endurance athletes capable of international eNordicellence. As part of that project, he spent one year as a sport physiologist with the U. S. Biathlon Team traveling to World Cup events and the World Championships.
He has over ten years of experience coaching cross-country skiing at the high school and collegiate level. He was Head Women's Nordic Ski Coach at Dartmouth College for three years where he helped coach five athletes to NCAA All-America status. In addition, he coached for the Mt. Bachelor Ski Educational Foundation in Bend, Oregon and directed four skiers to All-America status at the Junior Olympics.

His academic background includes a B. S. in Physical Education from the University of Oregon (1983)and a M. S. in Exercise Science from Northern Michigan University (1992).

Tim was born and raised in Oregon and recently returned to Oregon to be close to family and friends.
